In my previous post on Emotional Clearing I explained why letting go of negative emotions, attitudes and feelings is so important. Today I will go further by providing an Emotional Clearing Process that you can use to experience Emotional Clearing for yourself.

Emotional Clearing is like taking off a tight belt. You immediately feel more relaxed and comfortable. Clearing your mind of negativity is also like taking a heavy load off your back. Travelling through life instantly becomes a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable.

Let’s start by gaining some understanding of what thoughts and feelings are to begin with. Knowing what you are dealing with makes clearing them a lot easier.

Thoughts and feelings are nothing more than particular points of view.

If you think that you lack confidence, or ability, or value, none of those things are facts. They are just points of view. Other people may disagree with you, and those points of view would be no less valid than your own.

The same applies to feelings. If you feel fearful, or hopeful, then neither of those feelings are facts. They are just points of view. If you feel fearful then you are holding on to the point of view that something in your life could get worse. If you feel hopeful then you are holding on to the point of view that something in your life could get better.

Understanding that thoughts and feeling are points of view and not actual facts is important, because whilst facts are solid, points of view are fluid, and you can let them go just as easily as you can let go of anything else you temporarily hold onto.

How do you let a thought or feeling go? One of the most effective ways is to use the following Emotional Clearing Process, which consists of four simple steps:

Step 1 – Identify
First, identify the thought or feeling that you want to clear. Give the thought or feeling a name, such as jealousy, fear, greed, desire, sadness, etc.

Step 2 – Experience
Next, allow yourself to experience that thought or feeling fully. If you have labelled a feeling as sadness, allow yourself to feel that sadness as fully as you can. Clench one or both of your fists and imagine that your are holding onto the thought or feeling as you experience it fully.

Step 3 – Question
The third step is to question whether or not your mind would be clearer without this thought or feeling. For example, you could ask yourself, ‘Would my mind be clearer without this fear?’

Step 4 – Release
Now unclench your fists and simply let go of the thought or feeling. Allow yourself to release it from your consciousness. It doesn’t take any effort or energy – just a willingness on your part to exist without it. As you release the thought or feeling in this way, you may notice one or more of the following:

- A sense of relief.

- A sense of lightness, as if a burden has been lifted from your spirit.

- A sense of energy moving more freely throughout your body.

- A sense of greater peace and tranquillity.

This process is one that you can use over and over again, to clear more and more emotional negativity from your consciousness. Eventually you will develop the ability to release negativity as soon as you recognise it, and when you reach that stage you will live in a state of fairly constant joy and peace. To get to that stage, use the process as often as you can. For example:

- Whenever you find yourself feeling negative in any way, either towards yourself or towards others (angry, sad, depressed, hopeless, victimised, etc.) pause for a few seconds and use the process to release those feelings.

- Whenever you find yourself thinking in a negative way, either towards yourself or towards others, pause and use the process to release those thoughts.

The more you do this, the more ‘weeds’ you will pull from the garden of your mind, and the clearer your consciousness will become. Within just a few days of regular practice you will begin to see life in a more balanced and open way, and this improvement will continue for as long as you keep using the clearing process.

For many people, this simple Emotional Clearing Process will enable them to achieve levels of inner peace and emotional freedom that they have only ever dreamed of, so use it as often as you think of it each day for the next month. If you do this then your mind will be in a perfect state to receive the abundance of experience that the universe has to offer you.

Begin clearing now!

Emotional Clearing is not something that many people think about, but it is essential if you want to create good things in your life. Just as an untended garden needs to be thoroughly cleared and the soil tilled before it can be used to plant new seed, so your mind needs to be cleared of negativity before you can set out to improve your life using the power of thought.

Just as gardens get cluttered with all sorts of weeds that have been allowed to take root and establish themselves freely, so our human minds get cluttered with all sorts of negative thought patterns and feelings. The process of pulling up a weed is simple to understand, and once you have learned that process you will have all the information you need to clear your mind of negativity completely. Gardens which are large and full of weeds may take longer to clear than ones which are small and only partially weeded, but the process of weeding is exactly the same in either case.

Why should clearing your mind of negativity automatically lead to changes in your external life? Well, the truth is that most people begin with a negative state of mind that actually blocks any positive experiences the universe is trying to give them!

Picture your negative thought patterns and feelings as an umbrella, and the blessings of the universe as being a rain shower. In this state of being, even though there are blessings all around you, your own negative state will prevent you from experiencing them. And as you move here and there to try and ‘chase’ the shower of blessings, you will remain ‘dry’ as long as you continue to hold your umbrella of negative thought patterns and feelings!

If you are like most people, this experience is one that is all too common. The unfortunate thing about it is that most people never become aware of two simple facts that could change their lives almost instantaneously:

1 – The umbrella is of your own creation.

2 – You are the one holding onto the umbrella!

The ‘umbrella’ which prevents you from receiving whatever the universe wants to shower them with is created through their own negative thought processes and feelings. That much is fairly straightforward. What isn’t so straightforward is why anyone would choose to hold on to such an umbrella of negativity day after day, even when they are told that letting go would put them in a position where they can start receiving good things in their lives.

The answer to this conundrum is that familiarity makes people feel comfortable, even when the nature of what they are familiar with isn’t particularly good. People get so used to feeling negative that they get comfortable with that feeling, and when they accidentally feel positive they quickly do what they can – either consciously or subconsciously – to get back to their comfortable negative state of mind. This is why, when some people experience good things in life, they instantly worry that something bad will follow, or that the good thing will not last. Not because they necessarily want the good to end, but because it would feel more comfortable for them to be back in familiar territory.

The fact that you are reading these words demonstrates that you are not one of these people. In fact the chances are that you have a lot less negativity in your life than the average person does. But there could still be a few stray weeds here and there that you have difficulty with. Perhaps you have negative thought processes and/or feelings about your finances, your health, your relationships, your career, your neighbourhood, your friends, your relatives, your co-workers, your hobbies, your home… or something else entirely.

By clearing your mind of all these ‘weeds’ you will not only ‘let go’ of any umbrella you are currently carrying, but the umbrella itself with disappear. It will evaporate into nothingness, just as quickly as your negative thought processes and feelings do.

And the good news is that pulling a weed from your mind is no more complicated than pulling a weed from your garden. In my next post on Emotional Clearing I will give you a simple process that you can use to rid yourself of negative feelings in a very effective way. Once you are familiar with that process you will want to use it for the rest of your life to ensure that your consciousness is always clear of negativity and never again prevents you from experiencing the good things that the universe wants to shower you with.
