According to the dictionary a pendulum is, ‘a body suspended from a fixed point so as to swing periodically under the action of gravity.’ As far as this series on Pendulum Power is concerned, a pendulum is a divination tool. Specifically, it consists of a weight attached to a thin cord which is used by the owner to help them obtain information from the source of knowledge within.

A pendulum is an excellent tool for communicating with the power within you for two major reasons:

- A pendulum is truly portable and can be carried with you anywhere and everywhere in either pocket or purse.

- Using a pendulum requires no detailed knowledge – just the ability to follow a few ‘operating instructions’ which will be given later in this series.

Some people are under the impression that a pendulum is something of a ‘magical’ tool in and of itself. This is not the case at all. A pendulum is a divination tool and nothing more. Any ‘magic’ that takes place comes from the user, not from the tool itself.

Consider a carpenter’s hammer. It is useless in and of itself. No matter how long it is left on a bench, it will not pick itself up and hammer a nail into a piece of wood. But combine the tool of the hammer with the knowledge of the carpenter and hammering a nail into a piece of wood is simplicity itself.

So it is with the pendulum. On its own it can do nothing, but when it is used correctly by the owner, seemingly magical results can take place.

Another myth is that a pendulum is only useful if it is of a certain size or if the weight is made of a certain material. Again, this is not so. You can make your own pendulum from materials you probably already have in your home in a matter of minutes and get just as good results as you would by using one which has been professionally crafted. Of course, it may not be as visually pleasing as a professionally manufactured model, but as far as results are concerned all pendulums are equal.

Making Your Own Pendulum

Having dispelled the common myths that a pendulum has magical properties of its own and that it should be manufactured in a specific way to be beneficial, it is now time for you to take some action. The first step is for you to make your own pendulum.

To make your own pendulum, you only need two things:  a length of thin cord and a weight. The cord could be a piece of string and the weight a simple ring or hex nut, but don’t be confined to these suggestions. One man that I know of was so desperate to make a pendulum that he used a thin shoe lace and a ball of poster putty for the weight – and his pendulum worked wonders!

I recommend that the cord should be approximately eight to twelve inches in length, and all you need to do is secure the weight of your choice to one end. When you have done that your pendulum is ready to use, and I will discuss how to do that in my next post.

Pendulum Power has fascinated people for centuries, and in this new series of articles I will discuss the power of the pendulum in detail. Over the next few posts you will learn:

- Why the power within you knows the answers to all questions and is even able to help you foretell the future.

- Why a pendulum is an excellent tool to help you communicate quickly and easily with the power within you.

- How to make a pendulum of your own.

- How to use a pendulum to tap into the unlimited source of knowledge within you.

At the appropriate point I will also provide a special chart which you can start using immediately to help reveal what the future has in store for you!

Let’s start by discussing…

The Source Of All Knowledge

If I told you that the power within you was the source of all knowledge and could provide you with information not obtainable elsewhere, you might be a little sceptical. Your scepticism, however, would not invalidate the fact that this is the truth. The power within you – as regular readers of Create Good Things will already be aware – has the answer to any question, the solution to any problem and the key to unlock any door which you may face.

Think about this for a few moments and it will be obvious that we shouldn’t expect anything less from the power which created and sustains the universe we live in. Since we and everything around us is energy what the energy does in one place or time is intuitively known in every other place and time.

Consider a lake. Drop a pebble at one end of a lake and the effects of this small action will be registered throughout the whole. Ripples expand from the point where the pebble hit the water and continue expanding until the whole of the surface knows that the event has taken place. Of course, the ripple might not be visible to the human eye for more than a few metres, but on a microscopic level it continues far wider. On a quantum level the act of dropping a small pebble into a lake causes major reactions which any scientist can measure.

So it is with the energy in and around you. But because the power within you is divine and is not limited to time, it knows how events will unfold in the future as well as what has happened in the past.

This is not to say that the future is fixed, because that isn’t the case. But it is the case that for every action there is a reaction. If you ask the source of all knowledge within you what your future holds, it will answer according to the actions which you are currently taking. You can then choose to change this future by changing your current actions.

For example, if you ask if you are going to be healthy in five years time and the source says no, this does not mean that health is not possible for you.

On the contrary, if you look at your current lifestyle and you make changes such as quitting smoking, taking up exercise on a regular basis and begin eating a more balanced diet, you will automatically change the state of your health in the future.

It is important to realise that the future can be changed by changing your daily actions because so many people believe falsely that destiny is written on tablets of stone. They don’t even bother to try to improve their lives and so – like a self-fulfilling prophecy – their lives continue to head towards the future that they believe is already fixed.

So much for the theory – how can one access the source of all knowledge for oneself? Well, you have probably accessed this source of all knowledge quite accidentally in the past.

- You may have heard the telephone ring and known instinctively who was calling you.

- You may have had a dream which foretold a future event.

- You may have ‘known’ what someone was going to say even before they had said a word.

- You may have found yourself experiencing Déjà Vu, knowing on a very deep inner level that the situation or place you were in was strangely familiar to you.

All of these incidents are examples of how the source of all knowledge is tapped ‘accidentally’ from time to time. Unfortunately, accidents are random events and so if we want to access this kind of knowledge on a regular basis to help us live our lives more effectively, we need to find a method of divination which can be relied upon at all times to provide answers to our questions as and when we need them.

The search for such a method is not new. Many have tried and a few have succeeded, but most of the divination methods discovered are complex and require a lot of self-education.

The Tarot is a wonderful example. Its effectiveness is hard to dispute, but mastering Tarot cards on your own can take a long time, and that might not be good enough if you need a quick answer to a quick question. The I-Ching and casting of Runes are similar methods which require at least a working knowledge of how the symbols are to be interpreted, and so on.

But what if there was a method of accessing inner knowledge which didn’t require anything great in the way of self-education? What if you could find a method of gaining the answer to any question within minutes? Even better, what if this method was truly portable and could be used anywhere?

Welcome to the world of Pendulum Power!

The power of the mind is enormous, if not genuinely infinite. For millennia philosophers, spiritual leaders and in recent years even psychologists and scientists have said that the attitude or mind-set of a person can often have a direct effect on what that person experiences. In my opinion this relationship between attitude and winning is so important that I believe everyone who wants to win at life should invest some time in developing their latent Mind Power as fully as possible.

When it comes to Mind Power, there are only two kinds of people: those who use it, and those who abuse it. Those who use it deliberately develop their Mind Power in an effort to gain every possible edge in life. Those who abuse it often do so unconsciously, but nevertheless suffer as a result.

If you want to win at life, you must first of all ensure that you have developed and are using your inner Mind Power to its best effect. Fortunately, this isn’t difficult. It may, however, require that you change some of your core beliefs and attitudes.

To begin with, you should eliminate all negativity from your thinking. This is easier said than done, I know, but it is vital.

In this day and age it is easy to be negative about your life and your circumstances, but unfortunately, being negative never helps to turn your life or circumstances around. In fact, it only makes you feel worse and continue attracting negative circumstances! Being positive, on the other hand, can and does help to change both your life and your circumstances.

It is a fact of life that we all get what we expect. If we expect good things to happen then they invariably do. If we expect bad things to happen then they invariably do. In short, it can therefore be said that we always tend to get what we expect.

If you want to succeed and win at life, you must start expecting to succeed and win at life. It’s no good studying the Law of Attraction or simply going through the motions if you expect to fail deep down, because that hidden expectancy will still cause you to fail and your efforts would be fruitless.

The good news is that there are some very simple Mind Power development exercises which virtually anyone can use to start winning at life on a more consistent basis. There are three exercises in all, and using them daily will result in you developing your Mind Power with ease. All you have to do is carry out the following three exercises in the order given:

Exercise 1 – Affirm Success

Your subconscious mind is like a magical servant because it will do whatever it is told to do. Unfortunately, the conscious mind, which gives this servant its orders, often tells it to fail in life.

Affirmations have been proven by many people to help replace negative commands with positive ones, which obviously lead to more positive results. Our first exercise is therefore designed to bombard your subconscious mind with positive thoughts or affirmations.

Simply take five minutes each day (use a stop-watch if you want to be precise) and read the following affirmations out loud over and over again until the five minutes is up. You might feel a little self-conscious at first, but this is just because you are changing a pattern of negativity. Within a few days of practising the exercise the affirmations will become more and more believable as far as you are concerned and when this happens the positive effect will start to be seen in your external circumstances.

The affirmations to use are as follows:

I am a natural winner.
Whatever I touch becomes successful.
I am automatically guided towards success.
My positive mental attitude helps me to win at life.
Every day something good happens to me.
I am successful, victorious and happy.
Winning is automatic for me.

Exercise 2 – Picture Success

Images have just as much of an effect on our subconscious minds as our words do. It is therefore important to deliberately picture success and all that it means to you for five minutes each day if you want to become a genuinely consistent winner.

Now there are two ways of picturing success – one for those among you who can mentally visualize images (see Creative Visualization) and the other for those who cannot visualize so easily.

For those who can visualize, sit down quietly and imagine yourself living as a consistent winner. How would your life be different? Would you live in a larger home, drive a better car or enjoy more holidays? Whatever success means to you, imagine it now as though it has already happened. Enjoy this visualization completely. Actually work on convincing yourself that you are already enjoying the success you desire. This will ensure that the exercise is as beneficial as possible.

For those who cannot visualize with ease, do not worry. An equally effective way of picturing success is to collect a few pictures which symbolise what success means to you. Clip out a picture of the car you would like to drive, or the kind of house you would like to live in, or the holiday destinations you would like to visit. When you have a suitable collection of pictures, spend five minutes each day enjoying them, and just think how it will feel to have these things in your life.

Exercise 3 – Decide to Succeed

The third exercise calls for you to make a deliberate decision every single day to succeed and win at life. This might sound like a crazy idea, but it isn’t really. This is because when we make deliberate decisions, our subconscious mind automatically starts looking through its memory to find information, ideas and other items of data that will help you to follow through on your decision.

If you deliberately decide each day to win at life, your subconscious mind will immediately start working with you, rather than against you. It will start reminding you of books that you should read, steps that you should take and other things that you should do to help ensure that your goals are achieved as quickly as possible.

Making your daily decision to succeed is not difficult. You just decide! Some people like to profess their daily decision out loud, something like this:

‘Today I am committed to becoming more successful in every area of my life! I deliberately decide right now to focus 100% of my energy and concentration on taking more steps towards total success! Today I will win!’

How you phrase your own decision to succeed and win at life is up to you. Feel free to adopt the statement above, or invent your own. The way you phrase your decision is not important, all that is really important is that you:

a) Make a daily decision to succeed, and;

b) Stick to your decision by doing all you can to succeed today.

Like the previous two exercises, this one isn’t at all difficult, but it is still vitally important.

These three simple Mind Power exercises are simple enough for anyone to follow – even those who have no previous understanding of the Law of Attraction – yet they are still powerful enough to transform your life if you will allow them to. After you have been using them for a while you will feel good as a matter of course. You will habitually expect good things to happen – and they will! You will spend more and more time each day focusing on the things that can help you to succeed and as a result your whole life will become richer and more satisfying. In other words, you will be using the Power of the Mind to win at life!

The instant manifestation of desire is an idea that individuals have pursued for as long as the Law of Attraction itself has been recognised, which is several thousand years at the very least. The notion that there is a secret to manifesting any desire into its physical counterpart is, at first glance, an extremely attractive one. After all, who wouldn’t like to think of a million dollars and have it suddenly appear out of thin air? Or who wouldn’t like to desire an end to war and have it manifest just as quickly?

We know that the Law of Attraction works, and that desires can and do manifest themselves as physical reality, so why does the process usually take anything from a few hours to several years? And why, after thousands of years of study, has nobody managed to identify the elusive secret that would result in the instant manifestation of desire?

The most reasonable answer to me is that time itself acts as a kind of safety buffer between the moment of desire and the eventual manifestation of that desire. Such a safety buffer is necessary because all of us at some point desire things that are not good for ourselves or others. In a moment of embarrassment we might desire ‘to disappear into a hole’. In a moment of emotional upset we might desire something even more negative for ourselves or another person.

Clearly, if these irrational desires were allowed to manifest instantly, our lives would quickly descend into chaos. It could therefore be argued that having a gap of time between desire and manifestation is a perfectly good safety mechanism, and it could also be inferred that the more dramatic the desire, the longer it will take for that desire to be made manifest. Understanding this safety buffer concept is helpful because it enables us to be more patient when we are seeking to create good things in our lives, and prevents us from becoming frustrated when things don’t manifest as quickly as we would like.

Whatever desire we hold consistently is one that will manifest itself as physical reality in the future. If you focus on abundance at one moment and on poverty the next, your lack of consistency – in tandem with the safety buffer – will mean that no change in your circumstances are likely to be forthcoming. Your aim should therefore be to hold your positive desires consistently day after day, week after week, until the necessary safety buffer of time has passed and the universe allows that desire to manifest itself in your life. And of course, if you happen to have a single negative desire at any given moment, you won’t have to worry about that negative desire manifesting as reality.

Viewing the situation in these terms makes much more sense than pursuing a way to manifest your desire instantly. Instead, acknowledge that manifestation takes time and that there is probably a very good reason for that, then hold onto your positive desires and know that, when the time is right, it will surely be made manifest.

In this short series on The Power of Celebration we have discussed various ways in which we can increase our celebration of life. But what are the benefits of using the six keys that have been described? Well, they are plentiful…

To begin with, celebrating life allows us to detach ourselves from the trivial problems and cares of the world which lead so many others into emotional states of sadness, depression and helplessness. It enables us to live ‘on a higher level of awareness’ and view life from an infinite and eternal point of view.

Celebrating life enables us to ensure that we do not neglect to live today to the full as we work towards the goals and dreams of tomorrow. We know that today is really all we have, so we make the most of it.

When we fully appreciate where we are right now, we can being to appreciate how we got here in the first place. If we have anything to be thankful for in our lives, then we can acknowledge the fact that we attracted these things, situations or people into our lives. This gives us all the faith we need to start deliberately attracting what we want to experience in the future.

Finally, when we make a point of celebrating life every day, a hint of what we commonly refer to as ‘the Christmas spirit’ becomes a part of our regular daily experience. No longer are joy and happiness things that are kept under lock and key until December 25, but they become habitual feelings which we experience day after day regardless of the time of year.

This Christmas, be sure to have a wonderful time. Enjoy the good food, the festive drink and the traditional music by all means, but also take time to make this Christmas a time of special spiritual development and awareness which will benefit you for the rest of your days. Appreciate what you have and the people you know and love. Give of yourself to the people around you. But most of all live every moment of your life to the full.

Merry Christmas!

In this series on The Power of Celebration I am sharing six keys to increasing the amount of joy and fulfilment you have in your life. Here are the fifth and sixth keys…

Key #5 – Appreciate The World

Many people today despise the world they live in. They focus on the wars, famines, earthquakes, crime figures and political scandals which are so often the main news stories. But the world does have a lot of positive aspects and we should never forget that fact. Instead, we should take time to deliberately appreciate all the beauty and wonders of the world in which we live each day of our lives.

Step outside and look at your neighborhood. If you see houses, shops and bus stops then be thankful that you live in a community which has a whole host of convenient service and product providers and that your neighbours enjoy the warmth and comfort of modern housing. If you see fields, mountains and clouds then be thankful that you live in a place of visual beauty in which you can appreciate the miracle of nature from your own doorstep.

Wherever you are and whatever your situation, give thanks for the good that is around you. It is there in abundance, but we often notice it only when we take the time to look for it.

Key #6 – Live Today To The Full

The final key to celebrating life is to acknowledge that your time here on the earth plane is not infinite. We are all here but for a limited time, and none of us know how many months, years or decades we have left. This being the case, it makes sense that we should enjoy what we have to the full.

Make a point of reminding yourself every day that life is a gift. The fact that you are here, alive and well and breathing in and out is as good a reason to celebrate as any other you will ever be able to think of, for it is the most precious thing on earth.

Celebrate your alive-ness by living each day as if it were your last. Express love and kindness to everyone you meet. Give of yourself. Take time to smell the roses and enjoy the singing of the birds in the trees. Learn a little more about yourself and the universe. Keep problems and difficulties in their proper perspective and generally enjoy yourself.

Continuing our discussion of The Power of Celebration, we now turn our attention to the third and fourth keys to increasing the sense of joy in your life…

Key #3 – Give Of Yourself

This key arises naturally out of the last one. When we stop and realize just how much we have and how blessed we have been in life, it is natural for us to want to share our joy and prosperity with those less fortunate than ourselves.

If you want to give money to charities and individuals, then do so, but do not think that money is all you have to give. You could give a ride to someone without transport. You could give a food hamper to a family you know who are struggling financially. You could give a toy to the local hospital or orphanage. You could give some time to anyone you know who is lonely and needs a friend.

When you think about it, there are an infinite number of ways in which you can contribute to the lives of other people. There are an infinite number of ways in which you can give more love, light, peace and joy to those around you. All you have to do is think for a few moments about the people you know and then decide how you would like to give of yourself to help these people celebrate and create good things in their own lives.

In giving, we receive. We may not receive like-for-like, but at the very least we experience the joy of being able to help others, and if we truly have a spirit of giving then no other reward is ever really necessary.

Key #4 – Appreciate Your Loved Ones

All too often, we get so wrapped up in helping obviously needy people that we fail to express our appreciation to those who are closest to us. The fourth key to celebrating life is therefore to deliberately appreciate your loved ones.

Think of the people you love and who love you, and think of how rich and satisfying your life is because of these people. They could be friends, parents, siblings, cousins, children or grandchildren. No matter who they are, express thanks for these people and then express appreciation to these people for bringing such joy and love into your life.

How you express your appreciation to these people will obviously depend on the people themselves. You may give gifts to some, share a thoughtful word with another, give practical help to yet another and so on. All that matters is that you let your loved ones know how much they mean to you.
