The instant manifestation of desire is an idea that individuals have pursued for as long as the Law of Attraction itself has been recognised, which is several thousand years at the very least. The notion that there is a secret to manifesting any desire into its physical counterpart is, at first glance, an extremely attractive one. After all, who wouldn’t like to think of a million dollars and have it suddenly appear out of thin air? Or who wouldn’t like to desire an end to war and have it manifest just as quickly?
We know that the Law of Attraction works, and that desires can and do manifest themselves as physical reality, so why does the process usually take anything from a few hours to several years? And why, after thousands of years of study, has nobody managed to identify the elusive secret that would result in the instant manifestation of desire?
The most reasonable answer to me is that time itself acts as a kind of safety buffer between the moment of desire and the eventual manifestation of that desire. Such a safety buffer is necessary because all of us at some point desire things that are not good for ourselves or others. In a moment of embarrassment we might desire ‘to disappear into a hole’. In a moment of emotional upset we might desire something even more negative for ourselves or another person.
Clearly, if these irrational desires were allowed to manifest instantly, our lives would quickly descend into chaos. It could therefore be argued that having a gap of time between desire and manifestation is a perfectly good safety mechanism, and it could also be inferred that the more dramatic the desire, the longer it will take for that desire to be made manifest. Understanding this safety buffer concept is helpful because it enables us to be more patient when we are seeking to create good things in our lives, and prevents us from becoming frustrated when things don’t manifest as quickly as we would like.
Whatever desire we hold consistently is one that will manifest itself as physical reality in the future. If you focus on abundance at one moment and on poverty the next, your lack of consistency – in tandem with the safety buffer – will mean that no change in your circumstances are likely to be forthcoming. Your aim should therefore be to hold your positive desires consistently day after day, week after week, until the necessary safety buffer of time has passed and the universe allows that desire to manifest itself in your life. And of course, if you happen to have a single negative desire at any given moment, you won’t have to worry about that negative desire manifesting as reality.
Viewing the situation in these terms makes much more sense than pursuing a way to manifest your desire instantly. Instead, acknowledge that manifestation takes time and that there is probably a very good reason for that, then hold onto your positive desires and know that, when the time is right, it will surely be made manifest.
The New Science of Abundance by Joseph Franklin was originally presented as a ten-month home study course in the UK, but the complete course of ten modules can now be obtained at a fraction of the original cost from www.newscienceofabundance.com. I have been studying this course myself for just a few weeks now (it has only recently be released online) and I have been so impressed (and enriched!) that I requested permission to present an extract of the first module here at Create Good Things. The author was generous enough to approve my request, and so here it is – enjoy!
Why You Need to Become Abundant
We live in a world where a state of abundance is the natural expectation of all living beings. Yet we all know that there are millions of people who live in poverty instead of prosperity, in sickness instead of health and in a state of emotional misery instead of joy. So how do we begin to understand such suffering and poverty in the context of an abundant universe? And how can we help to change things?
The answer to the first question is rather simple. Just as some plants get trampled on by ignorant walkers, so some groups of people are trampled on by ignorant majorities. People do not starve because there isn’t enough food in the world to feed them. People starve because there aren’t enough abundance-minded individuals around to help them. It is human selfishness (which stems from an ignorance of abundance principles) not nature, which creates poverty.
This being the case, the answer to the second question becomes obvious. The only way we can help to alleviate suffering and poverty is to become abundant. When we live in a state of total abundance we will be in a position not only to directly help those in need, but also to teach abundance principles to others so that they can help even more people, and so on.
Imagine living in a world where every man, woman and child understands the science of abundance. There will still be a few individuals who, through no fault of their own, suffer from setbacks. But because the majority of us will be living in a state of total abundance, those unfortunate few will instantly be aided and assisted by the rest of us so that they too are brought into a state of abundance.
It sounds like a Utopian vision, doesn’t it? Yet this is what I believe we ought to be working towards as a civilisation. I believe that stories about the Garden of Eden and the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth were not written to educate us, but to inspire us. I don’t think they were given to us to show us what we might or might not miss out on, but to show us what a civilisation is capable of becoming.
Deciding to shun abundance because other people are suffering in poverty is totally illogical. If there is sickness in the world, we need to train more doctors, chemists and healers. If there is suffering and poverty in the world, we need to train more people to reach a state of total abundance. Only then can suffering be confronted in a meaningful and permanent way.
You therefore need to become abundant. Not only because this state of being is your natural birthright as a human being, but also because this world desperately needs abundant people to help turns things around and put our civilisation back on course to reach a future destination where all human beings thrive, flourish and prosper as nature intended.
This sounds like a tall order, I know, but just think about abundance in the context of your own life as an individual. How will achieving a state of total abundance affect your immediate friends, neighbours and relatives? How will you feel when you can actually do something to alleviate the suffering of those around you, secure in the knowledge that you can never run out of abundance? How will you feel when you are able to solve problems and meet real needs?
Achieving a state of total abundance will inspire those around you to follow a similar course of action. Your life will offer hope to those who currently have none. It will awaken the people who know you to new possibilities. By simply following your own natural desire for abundance, you will automatically create a wave of change in the lives of others. These people will influence still more people, and so on and so on, until eventually your single decision to become abundant will have had an indirect influence on many more people than you can currently dare to imagine.
When it is stated in these terms, does the idea of becoming abundant sound selfish? Not at all! It is in fact one of the best things you can do if you want to play your part in creating a more peaceful, productive and caring world.

The first step to designing your own tailor-made Magic Cloak is to decide what your ideal life would be like in as much detail as possible. Take a pencil and a notepad and seriously consider the following eight aspects of your ideal life:
Your Personality
What kind of person do you want to be? Confident? Optimistic? Cheerful? Kind? Passionate? Whatever it is, define it and get it down in your note-pad under the heading ‘Personality’.
Your Skills
What kind of skills do you want to have? The ability to play a musical instrument? Speak a foreign language? Repair motor cars? Write books? Again, note it down – this time under the heading of ‘Skills’.
Your Relationships
What kind of relationships do you want in your new life? Solid friendships? Casual friendships? Both? A lover? A spouse? What do your friends look like? What kind of personality does your lover or spouse have? Be as specific as possible and write your answers down under the appropriate heading.
Your Spirituality
Where would you like to be spiritually? Would you like to be able to experience altered states of awareness? Join a monastery or convent? Take a pilgrimage? Develop your intuition? Write your answers down.
Your Hobbies
What hobbies do you see yourself as having in your new life? Would you like to exercise regularly? Belong to a club or society? Go mountaineering or hiking? Learn to paint or draw? By now you know that your answers are to be noted in your pad.
Your Habits
What habits do you currently have which do not belong in your future life? Smoking? Drinking alcohol? Getting stressed in your car? Write your answers down in your pad, but note that these are habits which do not belong in your future life and are recorded for reference only.
Your Career & Finances
What is your ideal career? What do you do? Are you self-employed or do you work for someone else? How much abundance do you enjoy? What other forms of income do you have? How much money do you have in the bank?
Your Image
How do you look in your new life? What kind of clothes do you wear? What kind of car do you drive? Where do you live? What does your home look like? What kind of watch do you wear? What does your hair look like? What shape is your body in?
When you have answered the questions for all eight aspects of your new life, review what you have written. As you read, imagine seeing this ‘new you’ in your mind’s eye. Imagine living the life you have just designed. Is there anything you would like to change, add or take away? If so, change, add or take away now whilst your design is only on paper.
Even though designing your life is a serious exercise, you can and should have a lot of fun whilst doing it. Imagine your new life in detail. Imagine the sights, sounds, smells, sounds and textures of this new reality. Explore the possibilities, be sure to remember that there are no limits and in the next article we will continue the Magic Cloak process…
Talk about the power of faith to many people and the reaction you will get can often be quite negative. Faith is seen all too often as some fuzzy, wishy-washy concept which sounds very good in theory but seldom works in the real world. It is seen as a nice idea, but one which has no real substance or power.
In this series on The Power of Faith we will go back to basics and discuss what true faith is, how it works and how we can all use it on a daily basis to create good things and revolutionize our lives. Forget pretty phrases and sentimentality – this series is all about the kind of faith that is guaranteed. The kind of faith that gets real results.
True faith is the stuff that moves mountains. It can turn around any situation in life both quickly and effectively. It can turn poverty into abundance, sickness into health, shyness into confidence and fear into power. It is a metaphysical state of mind which truly unleashes the awesome power which we all have within us. Make no mistake, the power of faith can work miracles.
Before we continue, we should define what faith is. From a metaphysical point of view, faith is knowing beyond a shadow of doubt that a goal has already come to pass. Faith is a feeling of absolute certainty that something has already happened regardless of whether or not external life circumstances back up that feeling.
One Law of Attraction author says this: “Belief that the miracle has already happened always comes before the miracle can be seen by all.” In other words, faith always precedes manifestation.
And it has to be this way if you think about it. Anything which is created has to be born in faith otherwise it could not be created at all. If a writer wants to have written a best-seller then he must first have faith that he has the talent of a best-selling writer. If a carpenter wants to have made a beautiful piece of furniture then he first has to believe that he is capable of creating such a piece. Without the faith that he is able to succeed, neither the writer nor the carpenter would even bother trying to achieve their goal.
Faith here is much more than an intellectual nodding of the head. It is more than a half-hearted affirmation that says, ‘Yes, maybe I could do it.’ True faith is a conviction – an unshakeable belief that says, ‘YES! I CAN DO IT!’ It contains energy and emotion and when you have that sort of faith then nothing is impossible.
The biggest problem most people face is generating that kind of rock-solid faith and conviction. They know that having faith works wonders and they know that they need to be totally confident in a positive outcome if they are to experience the manifestation of their desires. The trouble is that they don’t know how to get that kind of faith. Thus they do their best but the miracles, wonders and manifestations never quite happen. The aim of this new Power of Faith series is to solve that problem.
Today I want to talk about how to allow success into your life instead of chasing it. All over the world there are millions of people who believe, either consciously or on a deeper subconscious level, that the Creative Force (or God) is their opponent in life. They have a ‘me against the world’ mentality and feel that they need to fight in order to succeed, prosper and achieve happiness.
This is nonsense. Success, prosperity and happiness are natural states of being and are actually what the Creative Force wants you to experience whilst here on earth. Far from ‘opposing’ your efforts, the universe is just as keen for you to succeed as you are – if not even more so!
Examine the natural order of the universe and you will find that success, prosperity and achievement are taking place naturally all the time. When we think of nature, we think of growth, abundance, reproduction, beauty, peace and all the other good things that we too want to enjoy. This desire to become successful, prosperous and happy is therefore completely natural, and in no way opposes the Creative Force.
So why is it that so many people strive to succeed, prosper and gain happiness, only to fail? The answer lies in the question. People strive for success, when what they really need to do is allow success to happen. They chase success instead of learning to allow it to flow freely into their lives.
In nature, which offers a perfect illustration of the Creative Force in motion, plants and trees do not strive and struggle in order to grow. They simply bask in the light of the sun, feed from the nutrients of the soil, and experience growth as a natural result. In a similar way, all we need to do in order to enjoy the most wonderful life is stop struggling and striving. Instead, we need to concentrate on basking in the light of the Creative Force and feeding from the power which is right there within us.
In other words, the way to succeed in material ways is to stop focusing on them so much and instead put spiritual matters first. Almost all scriptures present this eternal truth in one way or another. For example, in the New testament, Jesus says, ‘Seek first the kingdom [spiritual growth] and all of these things [material benefits] will be given to you.’
Why is it so important to put the spiritual first in your life in order to achieve success, prosperity and happiness? Well, you must remember that success, prosperity and happiness are creations of the Creative Force that permeates all things. By devoting yourself to the Creative Force, you are going directly to the source of all that is. Rather than spending your life chasing ‘effects’ you instead spend time with the great ‘cause’ and as a result the ‘effects’ will show up in your life quite naturally.
There is another reason for putting the Creative Force first, however, and that is because it is only the eternal aspect of your being which is truly important. You can make a great deal of money and achieve a great deal of material success, but if you have not developed your spiritual self then all of this is worthless. You will merely die a rich, but spiritually impoverished, man or woman.
If, on the other hand, you make your spiritual development the focus of your life, you will be dedicating yourself to something which transcends physical death. In other words, you will be doing something which you can take with you when you die. And along the way, you will also get to enjoy the fruits of a spiritual life – the success, prosperity and happiness which so many people seek for their own sake.
The points to remember for today are therefore as follows: The universe is on your side! The Creative Force wants you to be successful, prosperous, healthy and happy! The way to enjoy these things is not to chase them for their own sake, but allow them to manifest in your life as you focus primarily on developing your spiritual nature.

Prosperity consciousness is something that anyone who wants to experience greater levels of wealth and abundance must learn to develop. A prosperity consciousness is a mental, emotional and spiritual attitude to money that includes the following aspects:
A belief that we live in a genuinely abundant universe and that there is more than enough to enable all human beings to live lives of plenty and prosperity. Getting rich doesn’t mean that anyone else has to get poor in the process – instead we can all get rich and enjoy the abundance that is available to us.
An appreciation for the wealth and abundance that we already have in our lives. Many people don’t pause to notice how wealthy they really are, and that ignorance effectively prevents them from receiving even more.
A sense of trust in the benevolence of the universe, and a sense of knowing that we can have whatever we need to live our lives to the full and to help others do the same.
It could be said that we are all born with a prosperity consciousness and that we are conditioned to lose that attitude as we grow older. Consider how many children think that money is no big deal and act as if there is an endless supply of the stuff. That’s a prosperity consciousness, but adults are quick to ‘teach’ those children that money is a much rarer commodity than they think. In fact, we teach children to develop the opposite of a prosperity consciousness – we teach them to have a scarcity consciousness and to treat money as if it were most difficult thing in the world to obtain.
Although it is important to teach children to respect the value of money and the work and productivity that goes into creating wealth on a financial level, we certainly shouldn’t encourage scarcity thinking. Human beings achieve in life only as much as they believe they are able to achieve, so limiting the way that our children think effectively limits what they will be able to experience in life.
Developing a prosperity consciousness is not something that requires us to ‘add’ to our adult understanding, but only that we go back to how we originally viewed things as children. We need to go back to the point where we could look at the natural world and appreciate the wealth of space that is available to us for exploration and fun. We need to look at the wealth of opportunities that there are to provide a myriad of products and services to our fellow human beings. Then we need to dare to dream big dreams, make big plans and proceed with the faith that we will achieve all the things that we want to achieve.

How to win the lottery is a question that occurs to many people when they first come across the Law of Attraction, and perhaps this isn’t surprising. Winning a lottery jackpot is seen by many as perhaps the ‘easiest’ way of manifesting wealth quickly, at least in terms of the amount of effort involved.
Unfortunately, setting out to manifest a lottery jackpot is probably not the best way to use the Law of Attraction to create abundance and prosperity in your life, and that’s because lottery jackpots are limited in the number of people they can enrich.
Take the recent EuroMillions jackpot of £50 million that was won on Friday 12 June. Two people shared that jackpot, and so it could be argued that two people manifested £25 million of wealth quite effectively. But what about the many millions of other participants who didn’t win the jackpot or any prize at all? For those players, chasing the lottery dream didn’t prove to be effective in the least.
Some might argue that this was because they weren’t visualizing hard enough, or didn’t have enough belief to manifest their desire. But according to that theory, even totally effective visualization and belief would lead to disappointment. For example, if one million players had mustered the ‘faith’ required to win the jackpot then the £50 million would have to be divided between one million winners, and that would make each one only £50 richer than when they bought their tickets – not the kind of wealth one would expect from a lottery jackpot!
In my opinion, setting out to win a lottery jackpot is a very narrow and limiting endeavour. You are effectively saying to the universe, “I want to be rich, but I only want to get rich in this one specific way.” It could be that the universe has a completely different method of delivering wealth into your life, but if you insist on concentrating entirely on a lottery jackpot, you are blocking your ability to receive wealth in any other way.
By all means use the power of creative thought to attract more wealth, abundance and prosperity into your life, but don’t worry about how to win the lottery and don’t make specific demands about the method by which such riches should be delivered. Instead, allow the universe to deliver your abundance in whatever way it deems to be the most effective. If that happens to be a lottery jackpot, all well and good, but if not there are plenty of other ways in which the universe can deliver wealth to you as long as you allow yourself to be open to them.
