Explore Your Past Lives 5
Some people would argue that past life regressions are nothing more than flights of fancy – that they are simply daydreams which serve no purpose. Whilst I agree that not all regression experiences may be actual past lives, I feel that all such experiences are messages from the Higher Self and that they can teach us a great many things. The teaching received as you explore your past lives will, of course, vary from person to person, but the value of such teaching is always infinite.
No matter what you experience during a past life regression exercise, you should follow up a short while later by asking yourself the following questions and noting the answers down in your journal…
What can I learn from my experience? What obvious similarities are there between my past life experience and my current physical life? Could problems in my current life be related to the experience that I have just had? If so, how? What am I supposed to learn from such problems? How should I be dealing with them? Did I have any regrets in my past experience? How can I get rid of those regrets in this life? Did I make any mistakes in my past experience? How can I make up for those mistakes in this life? What was the purpose or goal of my past experience? What is the purpose or goal of my current life? How do they differ? How do they fit together?
Obviously, the answers to such questions will not come overnight. As I said previously, the art of past life regression is something that becomes more productive the more you practise it. But as you get into the habit of regularly exploring your previous existences in this manner then you will be giving your Higher Self plenty of good opportunities to teach you many useful things.
You will come to know that you are more than your current life. Your current life is merely a drop in a vast ocean of potentiality, but you – the spiritual being – are infinite and eternal. You are here to learn from your life and to help others learn at the same time. Make the most of this wonderful cosmic opportunity and seize the day.
Learn, love and create good things!

This past life regression exercise should be carried out immediately after the relaxation exercise that was discussed in my previous Explore Your Past Lives article.
Realise that all the answers to all the questions in the universe are sitting within you right now. All you need to do is ask the question or name the theme and then wait for the voice of your Higher Self to respond in the form of thoughts, words and images.
Silently name your question or theme and then look into the blackness of your mind. Let images, sounds and thoughts come to you. Listen with the ears of your spirit and you will hear. See with the eyes of your spirit and you will see. Knock on the door of the inner world and the transcendent magic of that world will be opened for you.
Whatever images, sounds and thoughts come to you, accept them.
Before long you may find yourself in a particular place in the realm of your imagination. Begin to explore this place and ask yourself questions as you do so. What is the weather like? What is the scenery like? Does it remind you of any place you have visited before? What are the people like in this place? How are they reacting to you? How do you feel about them? What is your relationship with these people? Can you talk to them? Can they talk to you? What are they saying?
Look at your feet. Are you wearing anything on them? If so, what? What are you wearing on your legs and arms? What do your hands look like? Are they masculine or feminine? Are they the hands of a labourer or the hands of a member of royalty?
Is there a mirror or a reflective pool around here? Can you find one? Take a look in the mirror or pool and note what you see. Who is the person you see staring back at you? What is he or she wearing? Does he or she look happy or sad? Old or young? Thin or fat? Tall or short?
Now that you know who you are in this inner world, go back and explore some more. Try to figure out as much about your life as you can. When were you born? What do you do? What is the purpose of your life in this place? How does that purpose compare to the circumstances of your current life? What lessons can you gain from this?
When you have finished exploring and wish to return to a normal state of consciousness, simply bring your focus back to your nostrils. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Take a few more breaths and then, when you feel ready, open your eyes. Make notes about your perceptions as soon as you can.

Do not eat for at least an hour before any regression session. Digestion consumes a great deal of energy and so it is best to stick to fruit juices and other liquids prior to using the techniques in this series.
If you want to get the most out of a regression exercise you should choose a question or theme which you would like more insight into. For example, the question, ‘Why do I always seem to have a problem regarding my finances?’ will lead you to the answer. Similarly, the theme of ‘Love’ will lead you to an inner experience which will help give you more insight into love and how it affects your life.
Because questions and themes can be so productive, I suggest that you pick one question or theme every time you follow the techniques given in this Explore Your Past Lives series.
Before you can even begin to explore your previous existences, you need to be able to relax both your body and your mind. The actual past life regression exercise will enable you to access the information locked in your subconscious mind, but in order for this to happen your whole being must be in a state of total relaxation.
Begin by relaxing your physical body. Lie down on your back and close your eyes. Focus your attention on each part of your body, from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head. Tell each body-part to RELAX and actually feel the muscles relaxing.
When your whole physical body is relaxed, it is time to quieten the conscious mind and get into an Alpha State of consciousness. This is a perfectly natural state of mind and can be described as ‘relaxed awareness’. It is not an unnatural trance of any kind and there is never any need to worry about entering Alpha.
To enter Alpha, concentrate on your breathing. Focus your attention at the nostrils and simply ‘watch the breaths’ coming in and going out. As you breathe in, silently count ‘one’. As you breathe out, silently count ‘two’. Then start again with the next inhalation.
After doing this for a short while you will find that your mind becomes perfectly relaxed. You will still be aware, but the busy thoughts of daily life will have quietened down and you will feel as though you have more ‘room’ in your head to think. At this stage it is time to proceed straight onto the recollection exercise, which will be the topic of my next article.
Explore Your Past Lives 1
Welcome to a new five-part series on how to Explore Your Past Lives, which I will start by asking you a few questions: Have you lived before this life? Are your past lives affecting the way events in your life are currently unfolding? Can problems with health, finances, emotions and phobias be linked to past Karma? And if so, can re-living your past lives in the here-and-now help to alleviate these problems?
These might sound like strange questions, but in fact they are far more relevant than you might ever dare to imagine. This is because ‘past lives’ are not as uncommon as one might think. After all, we are all eternal beings. And eternal not only means ‘that which has no end’ but it also means ‘that which has no beginning’. In other words, you will not only continue to experience conscious awareness after your physical death, but the chances are that you have already experienced conscious awareness even before your birth into this life.
Think about it for a few moments. Where was your spirit – that essential part which is the real you – before it dressed itself in your current physical body? Is it possible that it was dressed in another physical body – in another life? Many people believe that this is not only possible, but that it is actually very probable.
In some texts, life itself is described as a game – as a kind of cosmic virtual reality experience which exists only to further our spiritual development. Whilst you are in this ‘game of life’ it seems very real, but when the game ends we will suddenly remember that it was a game all along. At that point we may well decide to expand our development even further by taking part in another game… in another life.
If this is true then it follows that within us are the memories of previous ‘games’ that we have played. Unfortunately, most of these memories are locked away in our subconscious and can only be accessed if we learn to use the techniques which we discuss later in this series.
Maybe you already believe that you have lived past lives. Maybe you don’t believe in past lives at all. This doesn’t matter. Create Good Things is not about getting everyone to believe the same thing. It is about developing spiritually through the exploration of one’s own inner being. To that end, I don’t just want you to read this series and accept it blindly. I want you to start using the techniques that I will provide and begin looking into your own psyche – into that eternal part of yourself which holds all the answers.
The benefits of past life regression can be numerous. The main benefit is that discovering a past life instantly gives you a remarkable sense of knowing about your eternal and immortal nature. No longer is life-after-death just a pretty thought – it suddenly becomes an obvious inevitability. At the same time you will realise that because you are immortal and eternal, you can actually lift yourself above the circumstances of this life by taking a more objective and more accurate view of things.
Other benefits of discovering your past lives include being able to trace the source of phobias and problems associated with money, health, family relationships and so on. Once those problem sources have been identified they can then be released, and the result should be an instant sense of wholeness. Many people who have used past life regression in this way have discovered that their lives become much more relaxing and enjoyable experiences. In short, regression has allowed them to achieve a greater sense of eternity in their current, mortal lives.
