The Power of Secrecy
The power of secrecy has been taught for millennia by every major metaphysical movement that has shared the secrets of the law of attraction and the power of creative thought. Time after time the great teachers have advised their students to develop and use their Law of Attraction skills in secret, without telling a soul about their efforts, and there is a very good reason for this – talking about something reduces the amount of energy that you have available to bring it into being.
We have all experienced this ‘dissipation of energy’ at one point or another. Think about a time when you became really excited about achieving something and you decided to share your plans with a friend or colleague, and then you discussed the subject so much that you were left without an enthusiasm to actually pursue the idea any further. The same thing can happen when we are trying to attract something into our lives with the Law of Attraction, but in this case talking about our plans can weaken our energy even faster.
The best approach to take when you are working with the Law of Attraction is to keep your intentions to yourself and vow to let the results of your work speak for themselves. You can of course tell other people how you achieved something after you have achieved it, but until that point you should say nothing. This will ensure that your energy remains strong and vibrant, and it will help you to manifest your desires far faster than you would otherwise.
The Art & Science of Magickal Creation discusses this topic (as well as many more that I feel all Law of Attraction students should study in depth) and the author has permitted me to share the following quote which I feel would be useful here:
“Keeping your magickal workings secret makes it a great deal easier to keep your focus on the task at hand, because you won’t have to think about the expectations or observations of other people. Such distractions can severely interfere with the entire magickal process, and in some cases stop it altogether.
“I therefore recommend that you keep your magickal workings to yourself. Do not speak about them or indicate your use of them to anyone. The fewer people who know about your magickal workings, the more effective your magick will be.”
Whether one describes the working with the Law of Attraction in terms of ‘magick’ or the ‘creative power of thought’, the power of secrecy should never be underestimated. Although the temptation to share your vision for the future can be great, resisting it will enable you to get on with the much more important task of making it a reality.
Magickal Creation Excerpt
The Art & Science of Magickal Creation is one of the best texts you could possibly read if you are serious about creating your reality in a deliberate and personal way. With the kind permission of the author, Daniel Keaton, I am now able to present a short extract from the beginning of the very first Neophyte I Level (there are six levels of study in the package, as well as some incredible bonus materials). Enjoy…
Magick Defined
When spoken aloud, the words magic and magick (with a k) sound identical, yet their meanings are far from interchangeable. Magic is the art of conjuring for the purposes of entertainment – pulling rabbits out of hats, making white doves disappear and so on. All of this is achieved through optical illusion, sleight of hand and showmanship.
Magick, on the other hand, has nothing to do with conjuring or entertainment. It is, in many respects, the real thing. In other words, whereas magic gives the illusion of bringing about changes in reality, magick really does bring about changes. Magick can therefore be defined as the Art & Science of bringing about genuine change in a universe through Intention and Will.
I call magick an Art because it is supremely flexible and can be used a wide variety of situations to achieve an even wider variety of outcomes. The more creative you are, the more ways you will find to apply this Art in your life.
At the same time, magick is a Science because it is supremely reliable. Just as you can be confident that 2 + 2 will always equal 4 no matter when you decide to test the theory, so you can just as confidently assume that magick will always work when it is done properly. Unfortunately, there are far fewer people who know how to do magick properly than there are those who know how to count. But that is by the by.
Magickal Mechanics
If magick can be defined as the Art and Science of bringing about genuine change in a universe through Intention and Will, then how exactly does it work? Well, in order to understand this you first have to consider how the physical universe as a whole operates. In other words, we need to talk about physical mechanics and what I like to refer to as magickal mechanics.
We are all taught about physical mechanics in school, and we learned that all matter in this physical universe can be classified as being a solid, a liquid or a gas. To illustrate this, most school pupils are (or at least they were when I was one!) given a block of ice in a metal bowl. The ice is, of course, a solid object. When the ice gets warm, it melts into the bowl, thus becoming a liquid. When the metal bowl is heated sufficiently, the water boils and evaporated, becoming a gas.
We also learned about cause and effect at school. In brief, we were all taught that if you want to bring about an effect, you need to set in motion a preceding cause. So, in order to make a ball roll (the effect) you first need to push that ball (the cause).
In magickal mechanics, we agree with all of the above, but with certain distinctions. To begin with, we recognise just one state of matter – energy. Magickians have maintained for thousands of years that everything here consists of pure energy, and regardless of whether a thing is manifested in solid, liquid or gaseous form, the thing itself is really just energy when all is said and done. Today’s physicists are at last beginning to confirm this longstanding belief .
A second distinction concerns cause and effect. We agree that every effect must be preceded with a suitable cause, but we maintain that the Will and Intention of an individual can often set magickal causes in motion that are just as – if not more – effective than physical causes alone.
Again, modern physicists are beginning to confirm the accuracy of this belief, and recent studies into prayer and intention under laboratory conditions have resulted in some very convincing evidence which supports it.
Put all of this together and you can arrive at a fairly good understanding of Magickal Mechanics. If you have something that you want to change in your life, you don’t have to do things the hard way by running around setting lots of physical causes in motion. Instead, you can use the principles of magick to harness your inner power and set energy causes in motion. And since energy is the basic building block of the physical universe, results gained through the employment of magickal mechanics can often be dramatically more effective than using physical mechanics alone.
The Power of Intention
The power of intention is a force that can move mountains, even when all else has failed. Discover the power of intention, harness it in your life and you can break through whatever barriers you might currently be facing. That is no idle boast, but a simple statement based on actual observation of the power of intention at work.
Lots of people fail to make progress toward their dreams because they wallow around in a swamp of feeble hopes and impotent desires. They like the idea of moving on from their current position, and they are certainly willing to dream about being in a higher, brighter place, but they never muster the power of intention that is required to actually make progress possible.
Intention is not a weak hope or wish about what might happen ‘some day’. Intention is a definite decision followed immediately by forward motion toward the new vision of what life will be like from now on. This means there are three aspects to intention, namely vision, decision and motion.
Anyone who wants to unleash the power of intention must create a vision of what they want their life to be like. What kind of home do you want to live in? What kind of success do you want to experience in your career? What would your ideal relationship look like? How much health and vitality do you want? Unless you create a vision of your future, you will never be able to get there!
Next, make a decision to turn your vision into a reality. This does not mean giving a weak nod to the notion of change, but making a serious commitment to taking full responsibility for your life and to start creating it in a deliberate and conscious way.
Having made that decision, the third step is to follow through and take action. Start creating your life deliberately as explained in the articles here at Create Good Things and also in far more in-depth study courses such as The Art & Science of Magickal Creation. Once you know the technology of reality creation, creating reality is actually very easy!
And there you have it – a simple three-step process to unleash the Power of Intention in your life. You now have two courses of action available to you. The first is to give a weak nod to this article and continue exactly as before. The second is to get serious and act on the information that you have just encountered. Those who take the latter route will find themselves creating whole new universes of possibilities, so make sure that you are one of them!
